Workers Evacuated from Florida Gulf Oil Platforms.

Due to the impending threat of Hurricane Isaac, many workers have been evacuated from the Gulf Oil Platforms that are located just off of the Florida Keys.

Many of the major oil companies, including BP, Shell and Chevron, will evacuate their workers because of the dangerous threat of high surf and winds expected to result from the hurricane.

The storm is expected to hinder twenty three percent of the daily U.S. oil production because all of the Gulf oil platforms must be shut down.  Gas prices will likely increase as a result.

Weather forecasters predict that the storm is likely to be a Category 2 hurricane, with winds up to 100 miles per hour. It is expected to hit the Gulf Coast on Tuesday.

The storm recently hit Cuba and Haiti and left seven people dead.
