45 Year-Old Worker Dies At BMW Plant In Green, South Carolina.

Worker’s compensation was created so that if you, as a worker, are disabled due to an accident that occurred at work, you will be able to receive payment for your medical bills and lost wages without having to prove the negligence of your employer or a third party. Filing a worker’s compensation claim may seem confusing. That is why if you’ve been hurt while at work, you should turn to one of the experienced Boston worker’s compensation attorneys here at the Law Offices of Gilbert R. Hoy, Jr. and Affiliates to ensure you get the money to which you are legally entitled.

While working at a BMW plant, a contract worker was killed when he became trapped in a vehicle lift. Bojan Sprah, then just 45 years-old, suffered a head injury while working in the plant’s paint shop and later died from his injuries, according to the Spartanburg County, South Carolina Coroner’s Offices. The lift is equipment making it possible to transport vehicles between the paint shop and the body shop at the BMW plant located in Greer, South Carolina. BMW’s South Carolina operations are substantial; they produce a good number of BMW’s most popular SUV models.

The fire department was instrumental, but ultimately unsuccessful, in trying to assist the first responders from BMW and medical personnel after the work accident. Mr. Sprah was employed by German mechanical engineer Lodge and was contracted by BMW at the South Carolina plant. Local OSHA representatives are investigating the accident and have already been on scene at BMW looking for safety violations that may have caused the fatal accident. The investigation is expected to take about eight weeks: BMW employees will be questioned; and there will also be a review of company safety procedures.
